Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is scheduled to visit Anambra State on Thursday, September 10, as part of government efforts to expand economic empowerment and food security interventions to vulnerable Nigerians in the South-East.
The visit will feature the empowerment of 5,000 people under the Progressives United Against Poverty Programme, a scheme supported by the Anambra State Government under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) Economic Support Scheme.

According to a statement signed by Daniel Ezeigwe, media aide to the Anambra State First Lady, Dr Nonye Soludo, the visit is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Nigerian Government and Anambra State in tackling poverty, improving livelihoods, promoting food security and supporting vulnerable households.
The empowerment programme is designed to provide beneficiaries with economic support and opportunities to improve their livelihoods, particularly individuals and households requiring assistance to become more economically productive.
A major highlight of the visit will be the launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone in Anambra.
The programme forms part of the Renewed Hope Initiative’s broader efforts to strengthen food security and provide support to vulnerable households amid concerns over hunger and nutrition across the country.
Tinubu is also expected to visit the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, where she will commission selected projects.
The visit comes amid increased cooperation between the Nigerian Government and Anambra State.
During his most recent visit to the state, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the relationship as a partnership focused on shared prosperity and commended the development efforts of Gov. Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.
The visit will extend economic empowerment and food-security interventions to the South-East, with 5,000 residents targeted for the empowerment programme.
