The chairman gave the advice during a medical outreach by the association to ‘Area F’ Commands of the Nigeria Police Force.

The ACPN chairman said the event was to observe the scientific week of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, as well as the commemoration of World Pharmacists Day 2021.

“A lot of our policemen do not find time to take care of themselves, especially in the pursuit of their duties to humanity and community.

“So, we felt that bringing this outreach to them would have at least pointed them in the right direction that this is what should be done routinely. The screenings have detected some of them who need further and urgent medical attention and the affected people have been advised and referred appropriately.”

Ekhator also urged the policemen and the general public to abide by the COVID-19 protocols, stressing the need to partake in the vaccination exercise.

COVID-19 is real, It is important that members of the public do not delude or wave it away. As community pharmacists in Nigeria and Lagos State, in particular, we are urging members of the public to take it very seriously. A lot of us have lost loved ones to COVID-19.

“Yes, it did not originate from our domain (Nigeria), but like other diseases such as HIV/AIDS, when it started this was the same way people joked with it until a lot of people started seeing the effects.

“So, we do not want Nigerians to become the statistics that the world will use to make negative reference points. We advise that everyone should be precautious – wearing of nose-masks, social distancing should be continued. He said.
