Gombe Governor, Former Minister Mourn Reps Member Tongo

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya has expressed profound sorrow over the death of the member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.

Governor Yahaya described his passing as a huge loss to Gombe State and Nigeria.

Hon. Tongo died on Friday in Abuja from a prolonged illness.

In a condolence message, Governor Yahaya paid tribute to the late lawmaker, describing him as an astute grassroots politician, seasoned public servant and dedicated representative who devoted his life to serving his constituents and advancing the development of Gombe State.

The governor said the death of the federal lawmaker was a painful loss not only to his family and constituents, but also to the state and the nation at large.

According to him, Hon. Tongo distinguished himself through impactful constituency projects, humanitarian interventions and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people he represented.

“Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo was a passionate grassroots leader whose contributions to community development and public service earned him the respect and admiration of many. His demise is indeed a huge loss to our state and the nation,” the governor stated.

Governor Yahaya also reflected on the late legislator’s years of service in various capacities, noting that his legacy of humility, accessibility and dedication to constituency development would continue to be remembered by generations to come.

He extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, members of the National Assembly, political associates and the people of Gombe State.

The governor prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, grant him Aljannat Firdaus, and give his family, associates and constituents the strength to bear the loss.

Hon. Tongo’s death has been widely mourned across Gombe State and beyond, with tributes highlighting his contributions to public service, grassroots development and legislative representation.

Similarly, former Minister of Transport, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Yaya Bauchi Tongo.

In a condolence message, Senator Alkali extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the deceased, the National Assembly and the people of Gombe State.

The former minister described the late lawmaker as an exceptional leader, dedicated patriot, and tireless advocate for grassroots development.

He noted that Hon. Tongo’s political career was marked by selfless service and an unwavering commitment to the welfare and progress of his constituents.

According to Alkali, the death of the federal lawmaker is a major loss to Gombe State and the country’s political community.

He said Hon. Tongo was a pillar of unity who consistently placed the interests of the people of Gombe, Kwami, and Funakaye above personal considerations.

Alkali said Tongo’s contributions to legislative development would be greatly missed.

He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family, members of the House of Representatives and residents of Gombe State during the period of mourning.

He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that his shortcomings be forgiven, his good deeds rewarded with Aljannat Firdaus, and his loved ones granted the strength to bear the loss.
