Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has donated official vehicles to the management staff of Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna (AKUM), as part of efforts to strengthen the institution and improve staff welfare.
Governor Bago presented the vehicles at the Niger State Liaison Office in Abuja, describing the gesture as a strategic investment in higher education and the efficient administration of the university.
He said the vehicles would enhance the mobility of the management team, enabling them to discharge their responsibilities more effectively while reinforcing the government’s commitment to staff welfare.
“What we are doing is supporting the academic community. By the grace of God, the welfare of our lecturers and staff will not be compromised. We are determined to make this one of the best universities in Nigeria,” the governor said.
Governor Bago congratulated the beneficiaries and urged them to rededicate themselves to advancing the university’s vision. He noted that AKUM must continue to strive for excellence alongside Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, and the newly approved Abdulsalami Abubakar University of Agriculture and Climate Action, Mokwa.
The Pro-Chancellor of AKUM, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, commended the governor for his sustained support for the institution, describing the donation as another demonstration of his commitment to education and human capital development.
He said the governor’s interventions had significantly enhanced the university’s profile, attracting increasing numbers of students seeking admission.
“Abdulkadir Kure University is today unarguably one of the leading state universities in Nigeria in terms of student attraction. We are deeply honoured by your unwavering support.
“Your vision of expanding access to quality education has become a reality, and your contributions to human capital development are truly remarkable,” he said.
