Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo has funded the training of members of the State Project Coordinating Unit (SPCU) of the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project (NFWP-SU).
This is part of efforts to strengthen women’s economic empowerment and financial inclusion across the state.
The six-day capacity-building programme, held in Lagos, focused on the Community Operations Manual (COM), a key implementation framework aimed at enhancing grassroots delivery of the project and expanding support for underserved and financially excluded women.
The Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up Project is being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs through the Federal Project Coordinating Unit (FPCU), under the oversight of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

Speaking during the training, the Head of the Federal Project Coordinating Unit, Dr Hadiza Maina, urged participants to maximise the opportunity by acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills for effective programme implementation.
She stressed the need for participants to transfer the knowledge gained to local government and ward-level facilitators to ensure successful execution of the project at the grassroots.
“The responsibility of ensuring effective implementation at the grassroots level rests on you,” Maina said.
The training brought together field officers drawn from the Community Institution Building, Livelihood Collective Programme, and Project Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning components of the project.
Organisers said the programme was designed to strengthen participants’ capacity in community mobilisation, institutional development, financial inclusion and effective programme delivery.
Participants commended Governor Soludo for supporting the initiative and pledged to apply the knowledge acquired to strengthen Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) and other community-based women’s organisations across Anambra State.
They expressed optimism that the training would promote culture, improve access to financial services and support sustainable livelihood opportunities for women.
Officials noted that the initiative aligns with the Soludo administration’s commitment to inclusive development and enhanced economic opportunities for women, particularly those in underserved communities.
They added that the programme is expected to improve livelihoods and increase women’s participation in economic activities across the state.
