The House of Representatives is to investigate all allocation of Nigeria’s crude oil under Direct Sales and Direct Purchase, DSDP scheme, from 2018 to date.

This was to ascertain the crude oil allocation per refineries and the rationale for such allocation in the country.

The decision was contained in a motion under matters of urgent public importance on the urgent need to investigate the allocation   of crude oil under the scheme.

Sponsor of the motion, Abubakar Makki-Yalleman told the House that approximately 5.2 million barrels of crude oil supposedly allocated to comatose NNPC refineries in 2018 under Direct Sales Direct Purchase operations are unaccounted for.

Essentially, almost half of the 10.9 million barrels of crude oil allocated for domestic supply between June 2018 and July 2019 as reported by the NNPC is either stolen or diverted.

Unless these leakages are stopped they will deepen the national deficit even further thus depriving the country of the much-needed.” Yelleman argued.

A Newspaper report indicates that millions barrels of Nigeria’s crude oil are being stolen or diverted daily raising concern about  the spate of missing critical national revenue that could reduce the nation’s budget deficit.

The investigation would include the status of the 5.2 million barrels allocated for domestic supply in 2018 till date, Crude oil allocation per refineries and the rationale for such allocation and in case of inadequate production capacity, what happens to un utilized stock of crude oil.
