In a gesture of compassion and solidarity, the member representing the Lavun, Mokwa, and Edati Federal Constituency, Mr. Joshua Audu Gana, has paid a sympathy visit to Mokwa, Ndayako, and the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp to commiserate with victims of the recent devastating flood.
It will be recalled that during his absence on a national assignment, a delegation sent on his behalf delivered a ₦5 million cash donation to support ongoing relief efforts for affected residents with a promise that he would visit the area on his return.
True to his promise, Mr. Gana visited the communities immediately upon his return.
Mr. Gana visited the Palace of the Ndalile of Mokwa, where he met with His Royal Highness Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu Shaba, as well as the Village Head of Ndayako, and later visited the IDP camp.
He expressed his condolences and personally assessed the situation on the ground.
The lawmaker described the flood as “an unfortunate and unfathomable tragedy”.
He mourned the loss of lives and the destruction of homes, farmlands, and properties.
Mr. Gana urged the affected communities to remain hopeful and resilient, assuring them of his continued support.
“As your representative in the Green Chamber, I stand with you in this time of grief and recovery.”
“Whatever is needed to rebuild and restore the lives of survivors will be pursued vigorously. May the souls of those lost rest in perfect peace.” He said
In his response, the community leaders of Mokwa and Ndayako commended Mr. Gana for his timely financial support and personal visit, describing it as a true demonstration of leadership and empathy.
The traditional rulers offered prayers for the lawmaker and sought divine guidance and continued strength for him in all his endeavours.
They said that the visit further reaffirms Mr. Gana’s dedication to the welfare, dignity, and resilience of his constituents.
