Illorin Monarch Calls for Unity in Diversity

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari,  has called on Nigerians to uphold unity in diversity as the nation marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari noted that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diverse ethnic, religious and cultural heritage, which must be harnessed for national development.

This is contained in a goodwill message issued  by the Emir’s Spokesman, Dr. Abdulazeez Arowona.

The Emir stressed that 66 years after independence, Nigeria has every reason to thank Almighty Allah for sustaining its corporate existence despite daunting challenges, urging citizens to remain patriotic and committed to peaceful coexistence.

“Nigeria @ 66 is a significant milestone that calls for sober reflection, gratitude to Almighty Allah and renewed commitment to nation-building. Our diversity should be seen as a source of strength, not division. We must continue to live together in peace, tolerance and mutual respect.”

He also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for and support governments at all levels in their efforts to build a more prosperous and secure nation.

The Monarch prayed for sustainable peace, economic growth and progress of Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State and Nigeria at large.

He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to Nigerians at home and abroad on the anniversary, wishing the nation more glorious years ahead.
