Information Minister Mourns NPC Chairman, Aminu Wushishi

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has expressed shock and sadness over the death of the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr Aminu Yusuf, also known as Talban Wushishi.

The Minister’s reaction was contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Rabiu Ibrahim.

Idris described the death of Wushishi as a painful loss to the National Population Commission, the public service and the nation at large.

“I received with deep sadness the heartbreaking news of the passing of Dr Aminu Yusuf Wushishi. His death is a painful loss to the National Population Commission, the public service and the entire nation,” he said.

According to Idris, the late NPC Chairman was not only a close associate but also a committed public servant whose dedication to national development was evident during his brief tenure at the commission.

The Minister said Wushishi assumed office with a clear vision to deliver a credible and technology-driven Population and Housing Census capable of providing reliable demographic data for effective national planning.

He noted that the agenda reflected Wushishi’s strong sense of responsibility and commitment to Nigeria’s development.

His plans and commitment to delivering a credible and technology-driven census showed his deep sense of responsibility and his determination to leave a lasting contribution to Nigeria’s development,” Idris said.

The Minister commiserated with the Government and people of Niger State, as well as the people of Wushishi, where the deceased held the respected traditional title of Talban Wushishi.

Idris also extended his condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues, friends and staff of the National Population Commission, urging them to find strength and comfort in the life and service of the late NPC Chairman.

He prayed that Allah would forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family and all those mourning his death the strength to bear the loss.
