Nigerian content creator Adebayo Ridwan Abidemi, popularly known as Isbae U, has provided insight into the creative process that led to the development of his widely followed interview series, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
The content creator explained that the programme was created as part of his effort to explore a new direction in the entertainment industry and move beyond the skit-making style that initially brought him recognition.
Isbae U made this revelation during an interview with media personality Morayo Afolabi-Brown on “The Morayo Show” which was published on YouTube on Wednesday.
During the interview, Isbae U reflected on the different stages of his career and the various forms of entertainment he explored before settling into his current role.
He disclosed that he tried his hands at acting, singing and rapping as he searched for a creative path that matched his interests and abilities.
“I was just finding myself. I was at that process. Before that, I was singing, before that rapping. I was just finding myself,” he said.
Although these attempts exposed him to different aspects of show business, he continued looking for an area where he could express himself more effectively.
According to him, his journey through these different forms of entertainment eventually helped him understand his strengths and identify his niche. Rather than limiting himself to one particular style, he experimented with several creative ideas and gradually developed a better sense of the type of content he wanted to produce.
He further explained that the decision to launch Curiosity Made Me Ask came from his desire to create something distinct. Having already explored skit-making, he wanted to introduce a fresh concept that would allow him to interact with people in a different way while entertaining his audience.
“The idea of Curiosity Made Me Ask is to show you another part of this celebrity you’ve not seen,” he said.
Isbae U has since used the format to interview prominent personalities, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, actor Peter Edochie and entertainer Charly Boy.
The programme gave him an opportunity to combine humour, conversation and spontaneous questioning in a format that stood apart from his earlier work.
Since its launch, Curiosity Made Me Ask has attracted public interest because of its unconventional interview style and the unexpected questions directed at its guests. The programme has also helped Isbae U establish himself beyond skit-making, demonstrating his ability to adapt and experiment with different forms of digital content.
His experience highlights the importance of exploration and persistence in building a career in entertainment.
