Israel carried out a strike in southern Syria on Saturday, saying it targeted a suspected terrorist. At the same time, Damascus accused Israel of violating its sovereignty after a drone attack injured civilians near the Syrian capital.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle near Beit Jinn, west of Damascus, injuring several people. Syrian state television reported that one person was wounded.
The Israeli military said the target was a suspected terrorist whose activities posed an immediate threat to Israeli troops. It did not provide further details about the operation.
Syria condemned the strike as a “blatant” violation of its territory and accused Israel of repeatedly carrying out attacks inside Syria.
The latest incident follows Israeli air strikes on Syria’s Abu al-Duhur airbase earlier this week. US Special Envoy for Syria Tom Barrack described that action as “unnecessary”.

As tensions persist between Israel and Syria, Israel continues to maintain military positions in southern Syria and controls territory it seized following the fall of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.
The latest strike has further increased tensions as Damascus continues to oppose Israeli military operations inside Syrian territory.
