The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), which was temporarily unavailable for 96 hours.
The Acting Director, Public Affairs of JAMB, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said in a statement that the portal was fully restored and now operational.
He urged candidates, tertiary institutions and other stakeholders to take note of the development.

Benjamin said the Board regrets the inconvenience caused by the temporary unavailability of the platform.
“JAMB recognises the importance of CAPS to the admission process and appreciates the patience and understanding of all stakeholders during the period of the disruption,” he said.
Accelerate Admission Process
Board urged all institutions to immediately accelerate their admission processes to recover the time lost during the disruption and ensure compliance with the admission deadlines agreed at the 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions.
JAMB had earlier informed the public that the temporary unavailability of CAPS was due to an administrative challenge involving its hosting organisation.
The Board had also assured stakeholders that it was working with relevant service providers to restore the platform and ensure its stability.
“With CAPS now fully operational, institutions are expected to intensify their admission processes, while candidates are equally advised to promptly accept admission offers made to them.
“This is necessary to ensure that the agreed admission timelines are met,” Benjamin said.
He explained that stakeholders at the 2026 Policy Meeting agreed that admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session should be concluded according to the following timelines: public universities by October 31, private universities by November 30, and other tertiary institutions by December 31, 2026.
“Consequently, all admissions for the 2026/2027 academic session are expected to be concluded by December 31, 2026,” he said.
Following the recent release of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results by the National Examinations Council (NECO), Benjamin urged universities, particularly public universities, to intensify their admission processes and make effective use of the remaining period to meet the October 31 deadline.
He said private universities were similarly expected to conclude their admissions by November 30, allowing other categories of tertiary institutions sufficient time to complete their processes by the end of December.
Benjamin assured stakeholders that, as institutions accelerate their admission processes, JAMB would also promptly consider and approve admission recommendations submitted through CAPS.
Verify Results
He advised candidates who had been awaiting the release of their NECO results to immediately upload or verify their results to ensure that their credentials were available for consideration as institutions intensified their admission processes.
“Beyond the immediate restoration of the platform, the Board is also putting in place measures to further strengthen the resilience, stability and reliability of CAPS.
“These include medium- to long-term redundancy and business-continuity measures designed to reduce dependence on any single hosting or service environment and minimise the risk and impact of future disruptions,” he said.
Benjamin said JAMB remained committed to building reliable systems for the people it serves, adding that lessons from the disruption would be applied to strengthen CAPS and improve the overall admission experience.
