Personnel of the National Gendarmerie, deployed to Hilé-Alifa under Sector 1 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have arrested a suspected terrorist logistics courier during a patrol in the Dougoum Silio area of Logone.
The Joint Task Force disrupted the movement of a consignment concealed in containers designed to resemble petroleum-product containers.
The seizure of 21,000 rounds of ammunition in Cameroon has exposed another attempt to move a substantial weapons consignment into the Lake Chad Basin’s terrorist ecosystem, underscoring the importance of sustained cross-border intelligence and patrol operations.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Moussa Goudja, was arrested on 10 August 2026 with three containers containing approximately 21,000 rounds of 7.62 × 39 mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the consignment was being transported for onward delivery to Ambdego before the interception.
The arrest and recovery represent a significant disruption to the logistics architecture supporting terrorist elements operating around the Lake Chad Basin. The quantity involved also highlights the continuing effort by armed groups and their logistics networks to move sizeable stocks of ammunition through routes that exploit the region’s porous borders and difficult terrain.
The Force Commander, Multinational Joint Task Force, Major General S T Audu, commended the Cameroonian security forces in Sector 1 for the operation, describing the interception as a successful disruption of an attempt to deliver a substantial ammunition consignment to terrorist elements in the Lake Chad Basin.
The suspect remains in the custody of a national security agency as investigations continue to establish the wider logistics network behind the consignment, including its intended recipients and other possible actors involved in its movement.
For the MNJTF, the interception reinforces the importance of intelligence-led patrols and closer co-ordination with national security agencies across the four-country operational theatre. Disrupting ammunition movements before they reach terrorist formations can directly constrain their capacity to sustain attacks and replenish battlefield stocks.
The Force Commander has consequently urged all sectors to intensify patrols and clearance operations aimed at disrupting terrorist networks, securing the Lake Chad Basin and strengthening regional stability.
The operation also sends a broader warning to terrorist logistics networks that attempts to conceal or disguise the movement of weapons and ammunition will remain subject to detection and interception as security forces deepen surveillance and cross-border co-operation.
