The Kano State Government has secured a N23 billion World Bank-backed intervention for the construction of 49 schools under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) project.
Nigeria’s Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Ahmed, announced this during a courtesy visit to Governor Abba Yusuf at the Government House in Kano.
Professor Suwaiba disclosed that the state had received a World Bank “No Objection” approval for the execution of the projects, ststing that contractors had already been mobilised to commence work.

She explained that the project is aimed at expanding access to education, especially for girls and children in underserved communities across the state.
The Minister commended the Kano State Government for the quality of infrastructure projects being executed in schools, noting that institutions she visited reflected a high standard of implementation.
Sustain and Replicate
She urged officials handling the AGILE project to sustain and replicate such standards in all ongoing and future projects.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the education sector through strategic partnerships with the Federal Government and development partners.
According to him, the AGILE project has continued to transform education in Kano through improved school infrastructure and teacher development programmes.
“We will continue to collaborate and support every move towards developing education in Kano State,” the governor said.
