Kebbi State gov’t Launches Mega Flour Mill

The Kebbi State Government has launched its mega flour mill at the Bulasa Industrial Estate near the state capital, Birnin Kebbi, in order to improve the agricultural value chain.

During an inspection visit to the plant, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu was taken around various sections of the factory by the former commissioner for Agriculture Barr. Attahiru Maccido, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Joel Aiki and the Chief Engineer of the mill, Ayuba Musa Kudu from Nasarawa State.

Kudu informed the governor that the mill has the capacity to process wheat, sorghum, millet and maize into peculiar flour, including animal feeds.

“The mill has an independent source of power supply because of the amount of electricity consumption peculiar to such a factory.”

The former commissioner for Agriculture, Maccido said, “Wheat produced by farmers in the state and other parts of the country would be purchased as raw materials by the company, which would increase their profit margins.”

He made it clear that the quality of various flour produced by the mill is of high quality, and competitive on the international market, saying that the company has an objective to export its products to other African countries.

Governor Bagudu, commended Maccido and his team for achieving such a feat and also sampled the end products being milled in accordance with quality requirements.

The governor was happy that the mill was another testimony of the legacy of his administration on industrialisation, economic prosperity, employment opportunity and wealth creation.

The Vice-Chairman of, National Food Security Council and the Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Rice and Wheat Production in Nigeria, Bagudu was confident that the mill would be self-sustaining with large profit intake.
