The Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has rewarded two outstanding graduates of the 2026 Nigerian Law School with ₦5 million each and pledged to finance their Master’s degrees at Ivy League universities once they secure admission.
The beneficiaries are Israel Adekunle Adeniyi, an indigene of Offa who emerged as the overall best graduating student at the 2026 Nigerian Law School graduation in Abuja, and Oluwatomisin Promise Daniel, from Idofin Igbana in Oke Ero Local Government Area, who finished as the second-best graduating student in Criminal Litigation. Both are graduates of the University of Ilorin.
Hosting the two legal scholars in Ilorin, AbdulRazaq said the recognition was intended to celebrate exceptional achievement and inspire other young people to pursue excellence through hard work and dedication.

“I felt it was necessary to personally honour their hard work, commitment and brilliance to motivate others to also do well and make their families and our state proud,” the Governor said.
AbdulRazaq said he was particularly impressed by the duo’s ambition to pursue postgraduate studies at Ivy League institutions in the United States, describing their aspirations as worthy of government support.
He consequently pledged to sponsor their academic pursuits abroad after they secure admission into their preferred institutions.
“I was fascinated by their plans of going for their Master’s degrees at some Ivy League institutions across the Atlantic, and I accordingly pledged to fund this academic endeavour once they secure their admission,” he revealed.
The Governor described the cash awards and scholarship commitment as the state’s appreciation for excellence, stressing that merit and hard work would continue to receive recognition under his administration.
“This is our token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication. We care for excellence and hard work in any field,” he noted.
AbdulRazaq also said the accomplishments of the two young lawyers debunked the growing narrative that formal education no longer guarantees success, noting that they had already distinguished themselves as promising legal scholars.
“In what gave a lie to the ‘school is a scam’ refrain these days, Israel and Oluwatomisin are already doing very well after school as young legal scholars, and I wish them all the best that life has to offer,” the Governor emphasised.
The Governor congratulated the award-winning graduates and expressed confidence that they would continue to excel on the global stage while projecting Kwara State and Nigeria positively.
The recognition reinforces the Kwara State Government’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, investing in human capital development and encouraging young Nigerians to pursue distinction in education and professional careers.
