Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has urged residents to provide timely and useful information to security agencies to prevent crime, as the state government presented 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security operations.
The governor made the call while presenting the vehicles to the state police command at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin.
He explained that the donation was part of the state government’s efforts to sustain progress in maintaining peace and combating crime, adding that other security agencies would also benefit from a planned distribution of about 100 vehicles.

AbdulRazaq commended the police and other security agencies for their contributions to improved security in the state, noting that the new vehicles would enhance their mobility and operational effectiveness.
“You know the yeoman’s work the security agencies have been doing to improve the security of the state. We have made serious progress in the recent months. And to sustain the work they have been doing, we have decided to provide mobility vehicles for the police force,” he said.
The governor said the 25 Hilux vehicles constituted the first batch of the planned distribution, adding that other security agencies would receive their allocations in subsequent phases.
He expressed confidence that the vehicles would be used judiciously to improve security operations and support personnel working to protect lives and property.

AbdulRazaq, who described Kwara as one of Nigeria’s peaceful states, stressed the importance of public cooperation in preventing security threats from escalating.
“My message to Kwarans is to always tell the security agencies anything they see. Active intelligence gathering is the most important thing to nip things in the bud and make sure they don’t degenerate,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Adekimi Ojo, described the donation as another intervention by the state government to strengthen police operations.
Ojo said the vehicles would help address operational challenges, particularly in hard-to-reach areas where inadequate mobility could affect the prompt response of security personnel.
“This is one of the many (good) things the Executive Governor has been doing for the Police, apart from paying special allowance to those on special duties, which is assisting in making our jobs easier,” he said.
The police commissioner thanked the governor for the support and assured residents that the vehicles would be put to effective use.
He added that the command would intensify efforts to consolidate the gains recorded in the state’s security system and achieve greater success in crime prevention and control.
