The people of Kwara North Senatorial District have thrown their weight behind the second term bid of the Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu.

At a well attended rally held at the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin, the people said President Tinubu has performed excellently well to deserve a second term of office.

Speaking at the event, the Lawmaker representing Edu-Patigi-Moro Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Muhammad Adamu Saba described President Tinubu as the father of all and urged him to midwife the process of shifting Gubernatorial seat to Kwara-North in 2027 general elections.

Saba also urged the President to work with party stakeholders in the state for Kwara-North to emerge as the next helmsman of the state to consolidate on the achievements of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

He appealed to Kwara Central and South to demonstrate the spirit of brotherhood and support Kwara North to produce the next Governor in 2027 General Elections.

The Lawmaker said that “since the return of democratic governance in 1999, marking the beginning of Nigeria’s 4th Republic, Kwara State has witnessed a dynamic and evolving political journey shaped by leadership transitions, party realignments, and growing democratic consciousness among its people.”

“In the early years, Kwara politics was largely defined by centralised structures and longstanding influence that shaped governance across the three senatorial districts—Kwara Central, Kwara South, and Kwara North,” he explained.

Saba noted that Kwara North, comprising Baruten, Edu, Kaiama, Moro, and Patigi Local Government Areas, has remained a vital pillar in the political development of the state.

He stressed that despite its vast landmass and rich agricultural potential, the district has consistently advocated for fairness, inclusion, and equitable distribution of political power and development.

“Having contributed significantly to the growth and stability of Kwara State, it is both justifiable and timely that Kwara North is given the opportunity to produce the next Governor of Kwara State,” he pleaded.

Also Speaking at the event, the former Speaker of the state House of Assembly and two- time minister, Issa Bio Ibrahim, addressed the gathering on behalf of the leaders and stakeholders of the district.

He used the forum to announce the resolve of the people of the district to support any of their sons that emerge as the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress( APC) so that the district could occupy the state’s number one political office for the first time since the return of Nigeria to democratic rule in 1999.

He said that “they have secured the cooperation of all the gubernatorial aspirants from Kwara north to that effect.”

Bio appealed to the people of Kwara Central and Kwara South to support the northern senatorial district in its bid to produce the next governor of the state during the 2027 general elections.

In his remark, Emir of Lafiagi, Muhammad Kudu Kawu said that “all necessary consultations have been held across the state to garner support for Kwara-North Governorship.”

Kudu-Kawu explained that the Kwara-North is united having produced bloc votes for winning Governors in the state.

The Monarch submitted that the Senatorial District is committed to political stability of the state and returned Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for second term against their own son, Abdullahi Yaman in the 2023 election.

Speaking on behalf of Kwara-North women, Commissioner for Environment in the state, Nafisah Musa Buge said the call for power shift to Kwara-North is not political but moral necessity.

Buge urged other Senatorial Districts to rise above political bias and support power shift to Kwara-North for Justice equity and fairness.

The rally was attended by gubernatorial aspirants from Kwara north – the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yakubu Danladi- Salihu, Senator Sadiq Umar, Mohammed Umor-Bio and Alhaji Tajudeen Audu-Makama
