Kwara pilgrims take second dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ilorin has commenced the second dose inoculation vaccine for its intending Pilgrims to the 2021 Hajj on Monday.

The exercise commenced with the Flag-off by the Chairman of the Board, Dr. Abdulkadir Sambo Sambaqi.

The second phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination exercise that was purposely meant to prevent all the intending pilgrims and non- indigenes from the State from COVID-19, commenced at the Board Premises, located at Islamic Villiage, along Gerewu area Adewole, Ilorin.

The chairman announced that intending pilgrims across the 16 Local government Areas of the state who had received the first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine are expected to undergo the second phase.

“It would be recalled that the State had its first dose of the vaccination six weeks ago, after which the second dose of the exercise was expected to follow.”

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Barrister Ganiyu Ishola Ahmed also had his turn after which all other intending pilgrims from Ilorin West, Moro, and Asa Local Government Area of the State respectively followed suit.

The Exercise is scheduled to end on the 18th of June, this year.
