Kwara State, North Central Nigeria, has solidified its standing as one of Nigeria’s safest regions, ranking 8th nationwide and 2nd in the North Central zone in the latest Security Perception Index (SPI) released by Statisense and NigeriaPolls.
According to the July 2026 Security Perception Index, Kwara scored 41.3, placing it within the top 12 states where citizens feel most secure. The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) led the national chart with a score of 52.1, followed by Lagos State at 48.3.

The survey reflects Kwara’s status as a peaceful haven in the North Central region, trailing only the FCT in the zone. Nationally, the South West region dominated the ranking with 6 states, followed by the South South (3), North Central (2), and South East (1).
The growing feelings of optimism among residents in Kwara could largely be influenced by the relentless efforts of the Kwara State Government to strengthen peace and security in the state.
Apart from recently launching the Forest Guards Initiative, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq ensured the establishment of five new battalions by the federal government to combat banditry, kidnapping, and other security challenges in the state.
