The Lagos State Government has flagged off the second edition of Eko Flavours, a cooking show aimed at promoting local cuisines, food innovation, and youth empowerment in the state.
Organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems in collaboration with the Culinara Group, the competition is themed “My Lagos Story.”
Twenty contestants were shortlisted from 50 Chefs who registered for the event, which celebrates creativity and healthy competition in Lagos’ growing food industry.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, said “the show has grown remarkably since its inception, reflecting the government’s commitment to youth development and the creative economy.”
Ms Olusanya announced cash prizes of ₦5 million, ₦3 million, and ₦2 million for the first, second, and third positions respectively, in addition to consolation prizes for other outstanding participants.
She commended the chefs for their dedication and creativity, expressing optimism that “the platform would produce globally recognised culinary talents.”
“We have seen the level of preparedness from the chefs, they have surprised us all, like I told them when I met with them, making it this far shows that they’re destined for greatness.
“In the coming years, we hope to see these chefs attain global recognition like renowned chefs such as Gordon Ramsay. We look forward to witnessing their growth and full potential,” she said.
Co-founders of Culinara Group, Mrs. Jenifer Odufunwa and Mrs. Funke Adu, described the second edition as “bigger and better,” noting that Eko Flavours connects chefs to business opportunities while showcasing the diversity of Lagos cuisines.
They said the initiative has evolved from an idea into a vibrant culinary movement that highlights Lagos’ cultural richness and provides chefs with local and international exposure.
