Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians, particularly youths and older citizens in grassdoot communities to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
The Governor described grassroots engagement as a vital pathway to national development and sustainable democratic participation.
Sanwo-Olu made the call at the Lagos State rally of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign held at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, where he urged citizens across different backgrounds to take ownership of the political process and support the Tinubu/Shettima and Hamzat/Sonayon tickets.

The governor’s message underscored his administration’s emphasis on public engagement, political inclusion and grassroots mobilisation, with the campaign designed to bring the government’s message closer to citizens in their homes and communities.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the door-to-door initiative offers an opportunity to listen to the people, understand their concerns and explain government policies and programmes in a direct and accessible manner.
“Our youths, elders and people from all walks of life have important roles to play in building a stronger nation. We must continue to engage them and encourage their participation,” he said.
The governor stressed that sustainable development requires more than government policies, saying that active citizen participation and collective responsibility remain essential to achieving Nigeria’s aspirations.
The National Coordinator of the PBAT Door-to-Door Campaign, Sunday Adekanbi, commended President Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, for their leadership and commitment to national development.
Adekanbi explained that the campaign was designed to take the administration’s message directly to Nigerians, enabling campaign representatives to explain government initiatives, address public concerns and encourage participation in the democratic process.
“The door-to-door campaign is designed to take our message to the people in their homes and communities, explain the administration’s programmes and encourage citizens to participate actively in the democratic process,” he said.
He highlighted key initiatives under the Tinubu administration to include; road infrastructure projects, improved connectivity, increase in the national minimum wage and palliative measures introduced to cushion the impact of economic hardship.
Adekanbi maintained that direct interaction with citizens would help the campaign communicate the administration’s achievements more effectively while creating opportunities for feedback and stronger community participation.
“We believe that direct engagement with the people will help us communicate the administration’s achievements, listen to citizens’ concerns and strengthen grassroots participation. The rally reflects the All Progressives Congress’ strategy of taking its message beyond conventional political gatherings to neighbourhoods, households and community networks, where citizens can engage directly with campaign representatives”, he said.
According to governor Sanwo-Olu, as the campaign gathers momentum, the grassroots campaign emphasises personal contact, inclusive participation and community-level communication.
He further said that the initiative also presents an opportunity for the APC to connect its policy narrative with the everyday experiences and expectations of Nigerians, making listening to citizens as important as communicating the government’s record.
According to Sanwo-Olu, a stronger nation requires engaged citizens, responsive leadership and a collective commitment to translating development aspirations into tangible progress.
