The member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Terseer Ugbor, has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s performance in office justifies his re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Ugbor made the declaration in Adikpo, Benue State, during the flag-off of his constituency thank-you tour, where he also informed supporters that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had officially published his name as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency.
The lawmaker said President Tinubu’s economic reforms, increased revenue allocations to states and ongoing Federal Government infrastructure projects had positioned the country on a path of sustainable development.

Ugbor described the President as a courageous reformer willing to take difficult decisions in the national interest, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, efforts towards local government autonomy, ongoing constitutional debates on state policing, state creation and the establishment of additional local government areas as evidence of the administration’s commitment to institutional reforms.
He also noted that under the current administration, lost constituencies for the Benue State House of Assembly had been restored, while increased federal allocations had empowered state governments to undertake more developmental projects.
The lawmaker urged governors across the country to make prudent use of the increased resources by investing in infrastructure, human capital development, youth and women empowerment programmes, employment generation, and the prompt payment of workers’ salaries, pensions and gratuities.
Ugbor expressed hope that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme would continue to be strengthened through grants and scholarships for students.
He recalled that he chaired the House Committee that worked on the student loan initiative, adding that more than 25,000 students from Benue State had already benefited from the programme.
Ugbor further disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the establishment of an Infectious Disease Hospital in Gboko to serve the North-Central region of the country.
Speaking on his re-election bid, the APC lawmaker said INEC’s publication of his name had ended speculations that the party’s ticket had been awarded to another aspirant.
He pledged to consolidate on the achievements of his first tenure if returned to the National Assembly, listing several ongoing and proposed projects, including the completion of the Technology Incubation Centre, the approved National Open University study centre, the Federal Medical Project, the Comprehensive Health Centre in Turan, Jato-Aka, teachers’ and doctors’ quarters, a Comprehensive Primary School and a ₦1 billion Federal Government bridge project.
Ugbor said he had also rehabilitated numerous boreholes, distributed fertilisers and other agricultural inputs to farmers, implemented youth training and capacity-building programmes, and facilitated employment opportunities for many constituents.
He appealed to the people of Kwande and Ushongo to return him to the House of Representatives, arguing that the constituency stood to benefit more from having a ranking lawmaker capable of attracting greater Federal Government presence and development.
On security, Ugbor welcomed the establishment of the 5 Division of the Nigerian Army in Makurdi, describing it as a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to tackling insecurity in Benue State.
He also commended the earlier approval of a military battalion in Jato-Aka, which he said had significantly improved security in the area.
The lawmaker expressed optimism over the ongoing constitutional process for the establishment of state police, saying the reform would usher in a new era of community-based policing and enhance security across the country.
Ugbor noted that traditional community policing structures had historically existed in Tiv land before they were abolished, creating gaps in grassroots security.
According to him, the proposed state police system would restore community participation in policing, create employment opportunities for young people and strengthen national security.
