Lawmakers Move to Enhance Public Confidence in Insurance Sector

The House of Representatives has considered for second reading, a Bill for an Act to Repeal the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation Laws of the
Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
In his lead debate, the member who presented the bill, Hon Darlington Nwokocha said that the Bill when passed into law, will enhance public confidence in the insurance industry.
The Senate legislation which has been referred to the House Committee of the Whole by Deputy speaker Ahmed Wase, seeks to enact the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation Bill, 2023.
Also at plenary, the Lower Chamber has passed for second reading, a Bill for an Act to Domesticate New Partnership for Africa’s Development Framework.
The bill which was sponsored by Rep. Gideon Gwani from Kaduna state, sought to Establish the African Union Development Agency and further give effect to its Provisions in the country.
