Malaysia has called for stronger international cooperation to ensure stable natural gas supplies and strengthen global energy security amid geopolitical uncertainties, supply disruptions and volatile prices.
The Ministry of Economy said on Thursday that reliable energy supplies are essential for industrial competitiveness, investor confidence and sustainable economic growth.
The ministry noted that natural gas would remain an important source of energy even as countries accelerate the transition to renewable energy. It said gas provides the reliability and flexibility needed to support electricity generation and industrial operations, particularly as energy demand rises across Asia and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Malaysia also stressed the need for greater market transparency, predictable policies and sustained investment across the natural gas value chain to minimise supply risks and maintain confidence in long-term energy projects.
The ministry added that stronger collaboration between gas-producing and consuming countries would help improve supply resilience and reduce the impact of disruptions in international markets.
Malaysia further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation through the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) and its observer countries, particularly in market intelligence, liquefied natural gas (LNG) trade, infrastructure development and technology exchange.
The country said these efforts would help promote more stable gas markets and support long-term energy security as global demand continues to evolve.
