The Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Adesola Lawal, has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free, fair and credible governorship election in Osun State on August 15.
He urged the President to use his office to ensure a level playing field for all political parties, saying democracy only thrives when the will of the people prevails and citizens are free to elect the leaders of their choice without intimidation, let or hindrance.
Oba Lawal appealed for the commissioning of the dualisation of the Akoda–Baptist High School–Oke Gada Road in Ede South Local Government Area of Osun State.
“I use this opportunity to appeal to President Bola Tinubu to ensure a free, fair and credible governorship election; he should allow the people of Osun State to vote for their choice candidate come August 15,” he said.
The monarch, however, said his door is open to all political parties and aspirants, even as he urged the people of Ede to vote massively for Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying, “We will use our vote to repay the great development and massive infrastructure done in Ede town by the government of Adeleke.
“We will also use our votes to pay any deficit from other local government areas of Osun State. We are going to fill ballot boxes to the brim; God has strategically positioned us on top,” he said.

A Promise Kept – Governor
Addressing the people at the commissioning, Governor Adeleke said the road is a “promise kept”, stressing that it will accelerate the pace of development in the ancient town of Ede.
“This is a promise kept, and this is governance that touches the heart. This road is very strategic to Ede; it links major residential areas, schools, market, and connects to roads leading to the Osogbo and Ibadan metropolises.
“For so long, our people have suffered traffic flooding and a poor road network within the town. But with this dualised road, movement within Ede will be faster and safer; businesses along Akoda, Cottage, Oke Gada will grow; students and workers will get to schools and work on time; nightlife and security will improve with solar lighting.
“This is part of our administration’s agenda of infrastructure renewal across all zones of Osun. What we are doing in Osogbo, we are doing in Ila, in Iwo, in Ile Ife, in Ilesha and now in Ede,” the Governor stated.
The governor commended the Ministry of Works and the contractor for a job well done, saying the engineers delivered quality work in line with the highest standards.
While officially commissioning the dualised road, Adeleke expressed hope that the Accord Party would be victorious in the poll.
