Frontline pro-democracy crusader and former Secretary-General of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Chief Ayo Opadokun, has endorsed the Danladi-Adato ticket ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Kwara State.
Opadokun, an elder statesman and indigene of Offa, backed the ticket during a private consultative visit by Seun Ogunniyi Adato, member representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, to his residence in Lagos.
The endorsement is for the joint candidacy of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, and Ogunniyi Adato on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During the meeting, Opadokun reportedly commended Ogunniyi for his grassroots engagement, legislative experience and commitment to public service.
The NADECO chieftain said the continued development of Offa, Kwara South and the state required capable, principled and tested younger leaders committed to integrity and selfless service.
He urged Ogunniyi to remain committed to equity, the rule of law and people-oriented democratic values if the ticket emerges victorious in the 2027 election.

Opadokun played a prominent role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle against military rule following the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Reacting to the endorsement, Ogunniyi described it as a significant and humbling moment in his political journey.
“Receiving his blessings, counsel and support for our deputy governorship bid is both a profound honour and a sacred trust,” Ogunniyi said.
He added that the encounter had reinforced his commitment to promoting progressive leadership and ensuring greater participation of Offa and Kwara South in the development of the state.
The endorsement comes amid growing political consultations and alignments in Kwara State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
