The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commenced preparations for the 1448H/2027 Hajj season, directing State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and licensed tour operators to begin collecting initial deposits from intending pilgrims.
In a circular dated 15 June 2026 titled “Commencement of Preparations for 1448H/2027 Hajj Season,” the Commission instructed all relevant agencies to immediately kick-start preparatory activities in line with guidelines issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
NAHCON set a minimum initial deposit of ₦4 million for the 2027 pilgrimage. The final Hajj fare will be announced after consultations with stakeholders and the conclusion of negotiations with service providers in Saudi Arabia.
The Commission also fixed 26 September 2026 as the deadline for the collection of deposits by State Pilgrims Welfare Boards, agencies, commissions, and licensed private tour operators to ensure timely planning and contractual arrangements.
Following the directive, several states have already begun collecting payments from intending pilgrims, while registration activities continue nationwide in line with the approved timetable.
NAHCON advised pilgrims to “make payments only through official State Pilgrims Welfare Boards or licensed tour operators and to obtain receipts for all transactions as proof of payment.”
According to the Commission, early deposit collection will support efficient planning for accommodation, transportation, feeding, healthcare, and other logistics. It said that “early registration will enhance coordination for a smooth Hajj exercise.”
