Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has sacked the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Ibrahim Tanko, and five others in a major cabinet reshuffle.
He said the measure is to reinvigorate his administration’s governance agenda.
This development was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Labaran Magaji, while briefing journalists shortly after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.
The other affected Ministries in the cabinet reshuffle include: Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Lands, Science and Technology and Security and Sundry Matters.

The SSG explained that the Governor’s action was not triggered by the Commissioner’s poor performance but by the need to inject fresh energy into the administration.
He said the council commended the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, efficiency, and valuable contributions during their tenure.
”The adjustment is intended to rejig the system, inject fresh energy into the administration, and ensure that the mandate given to Gov. Abdullahi Sule is fully delivered within the remaining period of this administration,” Magaji stated.
He added that the former cabinet members remain valued partners of the government and may be re-engaged for other assignments in the future, while replacement nominees will be announced through official government channels in due course.
Beyond the cabinet changes, the State Executive Council held extensive discussions on maximising state revenues by tapping into Nasarawa’s growing lithium sector.
The move follows the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in the state by President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Magaji stated that the government was finalising actionable strategies to harness the economic potential of the processing industry, with specific measures to be announced soon.
