The National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) has urged Nigerians to dial 112 whenever they require urgent medical assistance, stressing that prompt access to emergency services could help save lives.
The agency said the toll-free 112 emergency line serves as a central contact point for medical emergencies, while several states also operate dedicated emergency call centre numbers to facilitate faster response.
According to NEMSAS, the national emergency medical response system is designed to provide rapid intervention, professional care and life-saving services, with first responders available round the clock to attend to medical emergencies across the country.
The agency’s emergency contact guide lists emergency call centre numbers for all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with most states operating the national 112 line alongside additional state-specific numbers.
In Lagos, residents can dial 112 or 767, while emergency contacts for the FCT include 112, 09157892931 and 09157892932.
In Ogun State, residents can call 112 or 08111200033, while people in Oyo State can access emergency services through 112, 615 or 07038636433.
For Nasarawa State, the listed numbers are 112 and 08144911269, while Niger State has 112, 08022422953 and 08155575713.
In Rivers State, residents can use 112, 0904022281, 0904022283 and 0904022281, according to the NEMSAS emergency contact guide.

NEMSAS also listed emergency contacts for other states, including Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Ekiti, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Osun, Ondo, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
However, the agency listed emergency call centres in Benue and Imo states as currently not operational.
NEMSAS advised Nigerians to save the emergency numbers on their mobile phones and use them promptly whenever urgent medical attention is required, stressing that delays in seeking emergency assistance could worsen the condition of victims.
The agency said its emergency response system was aimed at ensuring that Nigerians receive a fast response, professional care and timely medical intervention during accidents, sudden illnesses, injuries and other life-threatening situations.
NEMSAS therefore encouraged members of the public to remember 112 as the national emergency number and to call promptly whenever an emergency occurs, noting that quick access to emergency medical assistance can make a critical difference in saving lives.
