The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has cautioned the Federal Government, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Nigerian diplomatic missions abroad against engaging with a group presenting itself as “NIDO Worldwide”.
The Commission said the group, as presented by certain individuals, did not have the mandate to represent all Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO) chapters worldwide.
NiDCOM gave the warning in a statement signed by its Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.

The Commission also warned diaspora organisations against introducing political partisanship into NIDO activities, stressing the need to preserve the organisation’s non-political character.
It advised MDAs and Nigerian missions abroad to seek clarification from NiDCOM before engaging with individuals or groups claiming to represent Nigerians in the Diaspora.
“The Commission has a register of all duly registered diaspora groups and associations,” the statement added.
NiDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with duly constituted diaspora organisations and Nigerians abroad to harness their human and material resources for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
The Commission said it remained open to working with diaspora groups it considers credible, in line with its mandate to strengthen diaspora engagement and contribute to national development.
