The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its role in international peacekeeping and global security efforts.
General Musa stated this during an operational visit to the Defence Section of Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
He made the commitment after attending the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, who led the Nigerian delegation to the session.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde said that during the operational visit to the Defence Section, the Minister received a briefing from the Defence Attaché, Brigadier General EA Koleosho, on the Section’s strategic activities and operational commitments.
General Musa commended Brigadier General Koleosho and his team for their professionalism, loyalty and commitment to upholding the principles of the United Nations and the standards of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The Minister reiterated the resolve of the Nigerian Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restore and expand the nation’s active participation in international peace and security efforts.
He emphasised the administration’s commitment to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations across the globe as part of efforts to promote stability and security.
