Nigeria Releases 2026 Unity Colleges Entrance Examination Results

The Nigerian Government has released the results of the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), taken by 56,950 candidates seeking admission into Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.

The Examination conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO) is for admission of qualified candidates into Junior Secondary School one (JSS 1) of Federal Unity Colleges.

Speaking at a media briefing in Abuja, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, said 10 candidates recorded the highest score in the 2026 examination.

“Ahmed said; “Out of the maximum obtainable score of 210, 10 candidates obtained the highest score of 202, while 82 candidates obtained the lowest score of 01…60,357 candidates registered for 2026 NCEE; 56,950 candidates sat for the examination; 3,407 were absent.”

She also gave a highlight of the examination results of the Federal Government Academy (FGA) Sulieja, known as school for the gifted, stressing that 2, 071 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,876 candidates sat for the examination with 195 candidates absent.

The highest score is 187 (89.05%) out of maximum obtainable score of 210 (100%) while the lowest is 4 (1.90%).

“The admission criteria for selection of qualified candidates into Federal Unity Colleges remain the same, these are: 60% Merit; 30% Equality of State;10% Exigency.

“Now that the results have been released, the Senior Secondary Education Department should ensure that all admission processes are concluded timely and in line with the above criteria,” Ahmed said.

According to her, the examination is a highly competitive one administered every year to Nigerian children both at home and abroad who desire to gain admission into the country’s Eighty three (83) Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) spread across all parts of the country.

These FUCs continue to strengthen our unity as a country with the motto “Pro Unitate.

‘”It is a common knowledge that our Federal Unity Colleges have become the first port of call for most parents in the country,” she said.

Ahmad assured Nigerian parents that the government would continue to improve infrastructure in colleges to enhance teaching and learning.

This year’s edition of the examination was written on Saturday 6th June, 2026 in Nigeria, as well as Benin Republic and Togo.

The Registrar of NECO, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi urged “parents and candidates to continue to patronise the NECO examination”.

He thanked the Minister of Education, his counterpart, the Minister of State for Education, the media among other stakeholders for their unflinching support.
