The Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Abuja, has inaugurated Leadership Skills Development Course 16/26, a capacity-building programme designed to strengthen leadership competencies among its personnel.
The course, which runs from 6 to 18 September 2026, was formally inaugurated on Tuesday, 8 September, at Hall B, TY Buratai Block of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General James Myam (rtd.), said “the programme is intended to equip personnel from the non-commissioned officer level to mid-level officers with practical leadership skills relevant to contemporary military service.”
The course exposes participants to areas including critical thinking, emotional intelligence, mentorship, team building, coaching, communication, decision-making and inter-agency collaboration, with participants expected to apply the knowledge gained to their formations and units after completing the programme.
The Director General urged the participants to remain disciplined, actively engage facilitators and resource persons, and make effective use of the training opportunity provided by the Nigerian Army.
Major General Myam commended the course coordinator, facilitators and resource persons for developing the programme.
He acknowledged the guidance and support of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, who also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre.
The course is scheduled to conclude with a graduation ceremon whyy on Friday, 18 September 2026, at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.
