Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Implementation Committee (PIC) on the Alienation of Federal Government Properties, bringing an end to the committee’s 26-year existence.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Special Adviser, all matters relating to the activities of the dissolved committee will henceforth be coordinated by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.
The Presidency noted that the committee had gradually exceeded its original mandate, resulting in multiple litigations across the country, making its continued existence no longer necessary.

President Tinubu therefore directed that all responsibilities of the long-disbanded committee since November 5, 2025, be transferred to the Attorney General of the Federation, with immediate effect.
The President also directed the committee’s former Secretary, B. S. Dutsin-Ma, to immediately cease acting on behalf of the dissolved committee or the Federal Government on matters relating to its former responsibilities.
The committee was established in the year 2000 under the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to oversee the privatisation, sale and lease of Federal Government landed assets as part of the government’s monetisation policy.
It comprised representatives of key ministries, including Housing, Transportation, Justice, Health and Agriculture, as well as the Nigeria Police Force, with members drawn from both the public and private sectors.
Onanuga recalled that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the establishment of a Panel of Inquiry on March 22, 2001, to produce a White Paper that would guide the implementation of its recommendations after the panel concluded its 21-month assignment.
