President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr Shamseldeen Babatunde Ogunjimi, on his election as Chairman of the African Association of Accountant-Generals (AAAG).
The President described the achievement as a proud moment for Nigeria and a reflection of the country’s commitment to transparency, accountability and excellence in public financial management.
In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu expressed confidence that Ogunjimi would use his new position to strengthen cooperation among African member states, promote the exchange of best practices, build institutional capacity and advance reforms for prudent financial management across the continent.
Ogunjimi defeated candidates from Tanzania and The Gambia during the AAAG Annual General Meeting held in the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The President also wished Ogunjimi a successful tenure and pledged the Federal Government’s support as he assumes his continental responsibilities.
