The National League of Women Voters of Nigeria (NILOWV) has urged women to take a more active role in governance, elections and leadership as its Kebbi State chapter marks the organisation’s 30th anniversary.
Speaking at the celebration in Birnin Kebbi, the state chairperson, Blessing Michael, called on women to register to vote, contest elections and demand accountability from elected representatives.
Michael said the organisation had spent three decades promoting voter education, civic participation, women’s rights and greater representation in decision-making. She urged members to strengthen the league’s capacity to address challenges facing women and girls.
