Nasarawa United’s remarkable resurgence in the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) continued as the Solid Miners secured a 1–0 victory over nine-time champions Enyimba FC at the Lafia City Stadium.
Olympic Eagles invitee Jofrank Joshua produced the game’s defining moment in the 23rd minute. Latching onto a delicate pass inside the box, the forward neatly chipped Enyimba goalkeeper Utum Godswill to net his third goal of the season following his return from a long-term groin injury.
Enyimba pushed hard for a comeback, with Ganiyu Abiodun Olaniyan striking the woodwork before Nasarawa goalkeeper Olughu Chinemerem pulled off two crucial saves to preserve the lead. Late misses by substitutes Alao Danbani and Sunday Aluku could have broadened the home side’s advantage, but Mangut Mbwas’s men held firm defensively to seal their fourth consecutive victory and fifth straight clean sheet.

The victory lifts Nasarawa United to 3rd place with 17 points, level with the league leaders Rivers United and second-placed Rangers International, separated only by goal difference.
Following the match, the Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, represented by Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim, rewarded the squad with ₦1,000,000 in cash matching an earlier pledge made after their away win against Inter Lagos FC.
Speaking, Nasarawa United Head Coach, Mangut Mbwas, said “Credit to the boys for securing the maximum points. Thirteen points from five games is a great run. We are defending well and attacking well. We’ll carry this momentum into Kano next weekend.”
Also, Enyimba FC Head Coach, Emmanuel Deutsch said that “It was a very tough game. They took advantage of their chance, and while we had opportunities late on, the better side won today.”
Match Winner & MOTM, Jofrank Joshua stated that, “I thank God for the opportunity to score the winning goal. It feels wonderful, especially alongside my first national team call-up to the Olympic Eagles.”
Nasarawa United will head north to face Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
