Rangers International have taken a significant step toward securing the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title, following a 2-0 away win over Bayelsa United, at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Rangers set the tone early in the game, taking the lead in the first half through Chidiebere Nwobodo, who found the back of the net with a composed finish to give the visitors control going into the break.
After halftime, Bayelsa United looked to get back into the game, but Rangers remained disciplined and organised. Their persistence paid off late in the second half when Godwin Obaje sealed the victory with a well-taken goal.
The result ensures Rangers International maintain their position at the top of the table with 62 points from 36 matches, holding a narrow one-point lead over second-placed Rivers United as the NPFL title race continues to intensify.

Second-placed Rivers United thrashed Abia Warriors 3-0 to keep the chase for the NPFL title on, courtesy of strikes by Wasiu Falolu, Timothy Zachariah, and Bello Babatunde.
Rangers International will look to wrap up the title in their upcoming fixtures, while Bayelsa United faces an uphill battle to avoid the drop, as they currently sit at the bottom of the log. For Rivers United, any slip-up by the leaders could open the door for a dramatic final-day heist.
