The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is supporting Ebola response efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) through rapid and flexible funding.
At a treatment centre known as the CUBE, health workers provide critical care to Ebola patients while reducing their exposure to the virus.
The facility, managed by international non-governmental organisation ALIMA in collaboration with the DRC government, uses a transparent care unit that allows health workers to treat patients without wearing full protective equipment.

OCHA Deputy Head of Office in the DRC, Fadwa Benmbarek, said the facility also enables patients to maintain contact with their families during treatment.
The CUBE can be deployed rapidly and reduces costs by up to 75 per cent compared with traditional Ebola treatment structures.
It can also accommodate patients requiring specialised care, including newborns and critically ill patients.
