Outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has urged the media and civil society organisations (CSOs) to extend the same support they gave him to his successor, Professor Segun Aina.
Oloyede made the appeal when members of the JAMB Media Monitoring and Civil Society Group paid him a thank-you visit at the Board’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
The registrar, who will leave office on 31 July 2026 after 10 years in office, said the media and CSOs had contributed significantly to JAMB’s achievements by creating public awareness and providing valuable feedback through their monitoring activities.
He expressed confidence in his successor’s ability to build on the board’s achievements.
“I believe that if you think I’ve done anything, he will do better because I’m old-school. Professor Aina will do everything possible to take this board to a higher level and greater heights. So I ask for your support,” he said.
Oloyede also thanked the group for presenting him with an appreciation card, describing the gesture as deeply meaningful.
The group also honoured JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr Fabian Benjamin, with an appreciation card in recognition of his dedication and support for the media.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr Qasim Akinreti said the visit was to appreciate Oloyede’s outstanding service and his commitment to transparency, professionalism and accountability.
“We believe that hard work and professionalism should be rewarded. Professor Oloyede gave the media and civil society the opportunity to be part of JAMB’s success story, and we are saying thank you,” he said.
Akinreti described Oloyede’s tenure as transformative, saying he raised the standards of integrity, accountability and transparency, while repositioning JAMB into a globally respected institution.
He added that the group would give Professor Segun Aina its full support to ensure the board continues its record of excellence under the new leadership.
