Nigeria’s leader, President Muhammadu Buhari has cast his vote in the 2023 gubernatorial election.

He exercised his franchise on Saturday at the Kofar Baru Polling Unit 003 of Sarkin Yara ‘A’ Ward of Daura Local Government Area, Katsina State.

He was accompanied by his son Yusuf and other members of the first family.

The President had earlier arrived at the polling unit at 08:53 GMT.

He was accredited along with his Son, using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

Immediately after accreditation, they were issued their ballot papers and each of them went into a cubicle provided by the electoral body for the polls, where they thumb-printed for their preferred candidates.

Voting is still going on peacefully in various parts of Katsina State, where 3, 459,945 registered voters are expected to participate.

Generally, security has been beefed up across the State, with the movement of persons and vehicles restricted in compliance with directives of the Inspector General of Police.

However, police and other security agencies are patrolling across the State, to ensure the safety of voters and electoral officials.
