President Bola Tinubu’s administration has completed 221 kilometres of the 317 kilometres of roads awarded across the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) since assuming office in May 2023.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, disclosed this on Friday in Abuja during the inauguration of the reconstructed 4.2-kilometre dual carriageway Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council.
Wike said the completed roads were executed through the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) of the FCT Administration, while construction on the remaining 96 kilometres was progressing steadily.
He assured residents that the Apo–Karshi Road and Nyanya–Kurudu Road would be completed before the end of the year.
According to the minister, the Tinubu administration has also inaugurated 53 projects executed by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) within the city centre during the same period.
He noted that the figure excluded several intervention projects that were completed but not formally inaugurated.
“This has never happened in the history of the administration of this country, where a president inaugurated 31 projects in 28 days.
“If anyone has a contrary view, let them challenge us within the next 24 hours. If what we have said is incorrect, I will resign as FCT Minister.
“This is what we call ‘Operation Show Your Report Card’. President Tinubu can proudly present his achievements in both the satellite towns and the city centre,” Wike said.
The minister recalled that the Arab/Gbazango Road had been in a deplorable condition for years, hampering economic activities and causing hardship for residents.
He said the reconstruction of the road had transformed the area, describing it as a practical demonstration of good governance.
Responding to requests from residents, Wike directed the Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Richard Dauda, to provide potable water to communities along the road corridor.
He stated that following the inauguration of 31 projects in 28 days, the administration would briefly pause before resuming project commissioning later in the year.
In his remarks, President Tinubu, represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, said residents of Kubwa and neighbouring communities had endured years of difficult commuting due to the poor state of the road.
He noted that potholes and persistent flooding had hindered economic activities, disrupted businesses and caused untold hardship to commuters.
According to the President, the reconstructed road has transformed a major transport corridor into an avenue for economic growth and improved connectivity.
He commended Wike for his commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of residents.
“Minister Wike, you have once again demonstrated that when government works with vision and integrity, the results are visible and impactful. I thank you,” Tinubu said.
The President added that the road now provides safer access to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) and surrounding communities, enabling businesses to thrive, farmers to transport produce more efficiently and emergency services to respond more quickly.
Also speaking, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
She congratulated residents of Kubwa and the wider FCT, expressing confidence that the completed projects would remain enduring symbols of purposeful leadership and sustainable development.
Earlier, the coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Zulkiflu Abdulkadir, explained that the 4.2-kilometre dual carriageway was awarded in November 2025 to improve mobility within the Kubwa satellite town.
He said the road stretches from the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX) to the busy Liberty Junction in the Gbazango area and was completed within schedule to the required standard, including the installation of streetlights.

Speaking on behalf of residents, the chairman of the Arab Road Residents Association, Nnamdi Ezeabasirim, described the project as transformational.
“This road is more than asphalt to us; it represents dignity, opportunity and safety,” he said, pledging the community’s continued support for the administration.
The reconstructed road is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve access to surrounding communities and stimulate economic activities in Kubwa and its environs, in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
