President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, on his election as Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly Fifth Committee on Budget and Administration.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the election as significant.
He said Ibrahim’s Election was coming at a critical period when the United Nations is undertaking financial realignment and institutional reforms aimed at improving effectiveness, accountability and long-term sustainability.
The President said Ambassador Ibrahim’s election reflects the confidence of the international community in his experience in public service, diplomacy, business leadership and governance.

The Nigerian leader reflected on Ambassador Ibrahim’s background in public service, legislative oversight and international affairs, saying the experiences have equipped him with the leadership qualities required to guide the committee in carrying out its responsibilities effectively.
The President expressed confidence that the ambassador would justify the trust reposed in him and further enhance Nigeria’s reputation through his work at the United Nations.
“Your previous roles in the private sector and public service distinctly equip you to provide the steady, strategic leadership required for this important responsibility.
“Through your background as a respected legal scholar with commensurate expertise in International Taxation and Business Administration, you have consistently demonstrated intellectual acumen and a deep understanding of the global governance and financial systems, providing valuable insight into fiscal management, institutional efficiency, and sustainable growth,” he stated.
President Tinubu congratulated Ambassador Ibrahim on the achievement and wished him success in his new role.
