President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, for expanding access to education through the construction and renovation of hundreds of classrooms and the upgrade of legacy secondary schools across the state.
The President gave the commendation while congratulating Governor Yahaya, who is also Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, on his 65th birthday on October 9, 2026.
In a congratulatory message issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu joined the Governor’s family, friends and political associates in celebrating the milestone.
The President lauded Governor Yahaya for what he described as “exemplary leadership, vision and steadfast commitment to the development of Gombe State since assuming office in 2019.”
Beyond education, President Tinubu noted the Governor’s strides in infrastructure, including the construction of more than 900 kilometres of roads across all Local Government Areas of the state.
He also highlighted improvements in healthcare, with fully functional Primary Healthcare Centres in all 114 wards and the implementation of the Go-Health project targeted at vulnerable populations.
President Tinubu further acknowledged Governor Yahaya’s achievements in industrialisation, agriculture and ease of doing business through landmark initiatives such as the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park and the Agro-Livestock Development Zone.
The President also saluted Yahaya’s leadership of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, noting his efforts to foster unity, build consensus and promote regional cooperation in areas including security, education and economic development.
President Tinubu Tinubu noted that “the efforts have strengthened the collective progress of Northern Nigeria.”

He described Governor Yahaya as a pragmatic progressive and a committed partner in the Renewed Hope Agenda, whose approach to governance places the people at the centre of development.
President Tinubu prayed that Almighty Allah would grant the Governor continued good health, wisdom, strength and many more years of impactful service to Gombe State and Nigeria
