The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer is facing mounting pressure to resign after four ministerial aides quit and more than 70 Labour lawmakers publicly called for him to step down following the party’s heavy local election losses.
Despite an emotional appeal to party members in London for unity and stability, Senior Ministers urged Starmer ‘to set a timeline for his departure, with growing calls inside Labour for a leadership contest ahead of the 2029 General election.’
Several allies warned that replacing him could plunge the party into chaos, but critics argued he had lost authority both within Labour and across Britain.
Starmer, however, insisted he would not resign and vowed ‘to prove doubters wrong by rebuilding the economy, strengthening ties with Europe, and improving living standards.’
