Putin Blames Ukraine Attacks For Delayed Peace Talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin says a peace deal in Ukraine is still possible but accuses Ukraine of attacks on ships and civilian aircraft of delaying talks.

Speaking at an economic forum in Russia’s Far East, Putin said,We are grateful to everyone attempting to contribute to a settlement. Is there a chance? In my view, yes, there is. Ultimately, however, the problem must be resolved by the countries involved in the conflict.”

He described Ukrainian strikes on merchant ships and threats to civilian aircraft as “acts of state terrorism”.

However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warns airlines and insurers that Russian airspace has become unsafe due to Ukrainian drones. Only military targets would be hit.

Kyiv has asked the U.N.’s aviation agency to push for a ban on flights over Russia.

No peace talks have been held since February.
