The Renewed Hope Ambassadors and members of the Presidential Communications Team have commenced the inspection of strategic federal and state government projects in Kogi State.
They said President Bola Tinubu’s reform policies are delivering mutual benefits to both the Nigerian Government and the states.
Speaking during the visit, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication and leader of the delegation, Sunday Dare said the physical and academic transformation witnessed at the university was a result of President Tinubu’s courageous reform policies, which had freed more funds for the states.
He said; “education occupies a prominent place in the President’s eight-point agenda, adding that the investments in science and technology at the university demonstrate the benefits of continuity under the administrations of former Governor Yahaya Bello and Governor Usman Ododo.”
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Digital Engagement, Strategy and New Media, Otega Ogra, said the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant would equip Nigerian youths with practical skills in renewable energy technologies to install, operate and maintain clean energy systems.
According to him, “the college is the second of its kind globally after India, while the hydrogen plant is the second in Africa.”
A statement by the Director Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Mr Tunde Rahman, stated that the team first inspected the Kabba Junction section of the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway, which also serves as the starting point of the Lokoja-Benin Expressway.
The delegation also inspected the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and the Green Hydrogen Research and Demonstration Pilot Plant established in the university by the Federal Government through the Energy Commission of Nigeria.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Salami Ozigi Dedaat said “the Abuja-Lokoja highway had been in a deplorable condition due to abandonment by previous administrations but had now been earmarked for completion by President Tinubu.”
He explained that the project had been divided into five sections and awarded to different contractors to accelerate its completion.
At the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, the Director of Administration, Mohammed Ahmed, said the Nigerian Government, through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), had constructed the Faculty of Science Complex, Faculty of Environmental Sciences Complex, Faculty of Management and Social Sciences Complex and the Faculty of Anatomy at a cost of over N2.3 billion.
Project Maintenance Intervention
Ahmed said that “TETFund supported the institution through the 2025 Special Intervention under the Renewed Hope Initiative with the construction of a female hostel, project maintenance intervention, and academic and research support.”
The delegation also inspected Kogi State University, Kabba, Mopa Primary Health Centre, completed inner roads in Kabba-Bunu and the erosion control project in Kabba under the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Mid-Arid Areas initiative.
The inspection forms part of the ongoing National Media Tour showcasing landmark projects executed by the Federal and state governments across the country.
Earlier, at a reception organised for the delegation, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo, said the Kogi Rebrand Initiative of Governor Usman Ododo’s administration was aimed at changing the state’s narrative through impactful infrastructure and people-oriented programmes.
