The Rivers State Government in South-South Nigeria has announced plans to commission 10 major people-oriented projects as part of efforts to deepen development at the grassroots.
The project launch, which will run from August 17th through 31st, will take Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his team across several local government areas to commission roads, bridges, healthcare facilities, educational infrastructure and other completed public facilities.
Speaking during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, the Secretary to the Government of Rivers State, Dr Dagogo Wokoma, hinted to journalists of the decision of Governor Fubara to inaugurate the ten completed projects.
According to Wokoma, the projects were proof of the governor’s commitment to transforming communities and addressing the developmental needs of residents across the state.

He further disclosed that the event would commence with the commissioning of the Buguma-Degema-Abonnema Road, which links communities in Asari-Toru, Degema and Akuku-Toru Local Government Areas.
Wokoma said that next on the list would be the Egwi-Afara-Mba Road in Etche Local Government Area, followed by the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic’s Entrepreneurship Centre/Engineering Faculty Building.
On August 20, Wokoma said Governor Fubara will cut the tape on the Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Dual Carriage Way in Ikwerre/Emohua/Onelga Local Government Areas, while the Omoku Zonal Hospital, Omoku in Onelga, would be commissioned afterwards.
Other projects include the Omademe Internal Roads in Ikwerre and Port Harcourt LGAs as well as the new runway at the Air Force Base, Rumuola.
On August 26, attention will shift to Emuoha LGA where the Agba Ndele Road and Bridge alongside two major health facilities, the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital and New General Hospital, Rumuigbo in Obio/Akpor, would be inaugurated.
The SGS said that the 10-day programme would end on August 28 with the commissioning of the Bonny National Grammar School in Bonny Local Government Area.
Dr Wokoma reiterated that the projects reflected the administration’s determination to ensure that government policies and programmes affect citizens positively.
“These projects scheduled for commissioning are tangible evidence of Governor Fubara’s unwavering dedication to transform our communities and address the developmental needs of our people. These projects will serve meaningful and measurable benefits for every citizen across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State,” Wokoma stated.
“We invite all Rivers people to join in celebrating these milestones and to continue supporting the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as it advances peace, development, progress and prosperity,” he added.
