The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has announced his administration’s plan to highlight investment opportunities to the international community at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, UNGA 81, in New York.
Governor Fubara said this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the conference, saying the global platform provides an opportunity to market Rivers State as Nigeria’s leading investment destination, particularly in oil and gas.
The Governor said that his participation was aimed at giving greater visibility to the state, showcasing its economic opportunities and attracting investors into various sectors of the economy.
He said, “We are trying to give visibility to the state and also showcase the areas where God has really endowed us in the oil and gas sector as well as other aspects.”

Governor Fubara explained that the engagements at UNGA 81 and other side meetings would expose Rivers State to new business opportunities and potential investors.
“I strongly believe that at the end of this conference and other side meetings, business opportunities will be made open and presented to interested investors, who might have very serious and immediate needs to come to our dear state,” the Governor said.
Investment Drive
Fubara further explained that the investment drive was in line with his administration’s economic reforms, including the establishment of the Rivers State Investment Promotion Agency, RSIPA, as a one-stop shop for facilitating and protecting investments.
“What we are doing here will also aid the programme of that agency. Overall, I will say that Rivers State will be visible and prominent in this conference and we will come home with some good investments for our dear state,” he stated.
He assured potential investors of a peaceful, stable and open environment for business in Rivers State.
